アートと環境配慮の融合が美しい空間を生む

　シェムリアップ川沿いの閑静なエリアにある「Treeline Urban Resort」は、環境配慮と空間デザインが見事に融合したシティ・リゾート・ホテルだ。使い捨てプラスティック・フリーの姿勢は、ホテルの空間内にデザインという衣を纏い、美しく表現されている。歯ブラシなどのアメニティは自然素材に、ペットボトル飲料をリフィルボトルに、隅々まで徹底的に実現しているが、デザイン性の高さからその姿勢はむしろ心地よい。プラスティックの問題を筆頭に様々な環境問題が顕在化してきたカンボジアで、様々な環境問題に対する回答のモデルとなるホテルを目指している。

　Located in a quiet area along the Siem Reap River, “Treeline Urban Resort” is an urban resort hotel that perfectly blends environmental considerations and space design. Their stand on plastic-free is beautifully expressed on their designs in the hotel. Toothbrushes and other amenities are made from natural materials, and using refill bottles. Everything is fully realized without any stress. In Cambodia, where various environmental problems have appeared, including plastic problems, they aim to be a hotel that as a model for responding to various environmental problems.

客室内のアメニティなどの備品がプラスティックフリーなだけではなく、室内のインテリアやカバー類などにも再生可能な自然素材を使用。ビン類のカバーやドライヤー・バックなどは綿やリネン、ホテイアオイを使う。室内の仕上げ材は木や石、プラスター、印象的なアートワークも全て自然素材だ。
また、こうした徹底したプラスティックフリーに加え、温水用の太陽エネルギーシステム、廃油のバイオディーゼル利用、生ゴミの堆肥化、省エネの為に不要なリネン類の交換をやめる事やガラスのアップサイクルなど、開業以来、持続可能な未来へを実現する開発の為の一連のイニシアチブにも取り組んでいる。

In addition to being plastic-free such as amenities in the room, they use natural materials that can be recycled for interiors and covers. They use cotton, linen and water hyacinth for bottle covers, dryers and bags. The impressive artwork are all natural materials. Aside from this thorough plastic-free operation, they also started operations such as a solar energy system for hot water, biodiesel of waste oil, composting of wet garbage, stopping the exchange of unnecessary linens for energy saving and glass up-cycle. Since opening, they have been working on initiatives for a sustainable future.

ホテルで使用される製品は、持続可能なモノづくりを目指す信頼のおけるサプライヤーから購入されている。特注で製作されるセラミック製品は地元の工房Loyuyuから。SURI Spaで使用される原料は地元産のものをはじめSaartiなどから。シャンプーやコンディショナーなどのアメニティには地元の自然化粧品会社KAMBIOから。ホテイアオイの瓶カバーはトンレサップ湖の水上村をサポートするOsmoseと協力して製作。このように、デザインによる地元のパートナーとの連携を通じ、プラスティックフリーや持続可能な未来へのイニシアチブを地元の繋がりの中で根付かせているのだ。

The products used in their hotel are purchased from ethical suppliers who aim for sustainable manufacturing. Custom-made ceramic products are from the local workshop Loyuyu. Ingredients of spa products used in SURI Spa are from local sources and suppliers such as Saarti. Amenity products such as shampoo and conditioner from local natural cosmetics company KAMBIO. The water hyacinth bottle cover was produced in cooperation with Osmose, which supports the floating village of Tonle Sap Lake. They root themselves in the community by way of design, through their local partners and community initiatives.
